Webtype in use: Controlarms.nl

The Dutch activist website controlarms.nl is part of a spirited campaign against the trade of weapons. An initiative of Amnesty International, Oxfam Novib and Pax Christi, the website as well as all other media were designed by design studio Sazza, Amsterdam, who chose Garage Gothic as the lead typeface.

The rough, uneven appearance of Tobias Frere-Jones’ gritty grotesque fits the message of the campaign perfectly, and all products — from posters over t-shirts to wooden boxes — make prominent use of it. By including webfonts from Webtype, Sazza was able to carry the design over to the screen for a coherent look and branding.

As with all fonts on Webtype, Garage Gothic can be tested free of charge for 30 days. For more samples of Webtype fonts in use, check out the “in-use” category of the blog.
